New

So it has been a while, but with not much going on, it's hard to think of what to write. It was final week, I have one left this week and then two classes in the fall, until I am officially a college graduate. Work has been pretty uneventful, still waiting to hear the fall assignment. Whatever classroom I teach in, I will be happy. I am also looking forward to having the next 7 or so months with Wayne.
I ended up getting shingles from a outbreak of chicken pox at work...yep what fun. Although the medicine they put me on seems to be doing it's job, I am suffering from most of it's side effects. Six more days, until that it over...I can not wait.
Other than that all is good here, Olive is a spunky as ever and Wayne is wonderfull.
Hope all is good back home as well!

Wayne

Even though I had to wait a extra day to see Wayne, it still was wonderful! I picked him up on Friday morning, and after a few moments of just enjoying a long hug, we ventured our way home. Olive was glad to see him, but a little skeptical at first. We decided that even though he just got home that we were going to spend the day with some of his buddies. We joined a friend in Concord for a BBQ, then we all piled in the truck, to head over to another guy who is on the ship house. We sat and watched movies, and they got to catch up and have some quality guy time. Once again I was the only girl, but that's OK. We decided to go to the Concord drive in and we went to see The Despicable me...well I slept through it. After a long day, and making the decision that none of us were going to make it through the second feature we decided to call it quits.
The next morning Wayne and I decided to head up the coast to Hearst Castle....It was a peaceful drive and we got to see some beautiful sights. While we were waiting for our tour time we walked through a shoreline town. We then ventured our way through part of the castle (we will have to go back and do another section at some point). We then decided that we were going to head up Highway 1 (the coast) and look for a hotel to stay the night at...after many towns and many more NO VACANCY signs we gave up. But along the way we got to see Elephant seals and a beautiful sunset, and we were able to enjoy each other's company. So once we reached Monterey we decided that we were just going to head home, by this time it was already almost midnight. We were successful, reaching our house at around one!
Sunday was a little on the chilly side, but we slept in...which was much needed to recuperated from the adventures from the night before. We then decided to go play tennis...10 matches later and both of us winning 5 a piece, we were tired and headed home. The rest of the day, was spent being lazy, and catching up on household chores. We finished the night off with a lemon pepper crab linguine.. and a glass of wine....what a great weekend!
We were both back to the grind this morning, and he is standing duty...but looking forward to getting back into a routine with my man.

Update

So after a long week of homework, and finishing up some big projects, the day has finally come. I get to go pick up Wayne in the AM, finally!!!!I am excited to see him, it has been a long two months! Although I have kept myself pretty busy, it still wears on you as each day passes. So I took tomorrow off, and I am going to get him, who knows what the weekend will bring, but it does not matter we will be together!

It's been a while

The Outrigger Canoe
It's been a while since I have had a chance to get on here and post anything, but I am free tonight so here goes nothing.
Last weekend I enjoyed going to Fremont to watch Outrigger Canoe races! It was great and I got to see a great friend in the process. After watching a few hours of her racing and seeing them achieve second place medals...We were all starving and HOT! So they loaded up the boats and we headed to Berkley to grab some dinner. A great Italian meal, good conversation and a few hours later, we all said our goodbyes and headed home.
On Sunday I decided that I should probably complete tedious tasks around the house, and then I went and enjoyed the pool and warm weather.
After a amazing weekend I had to jump back into the grind. The kids have been great this week although we have been hit with a heat wave! We enjoyed the park, swimming, bowling, and Ice Skating (I stayed off the ICE) this week. Tomorrow we hope to set up the sprinklers and try to find innovative ways to stay cool!
As the weeks tick by I have begun getting really excited about Wayne's homecoming! after not talking to him for a week, I was able to finally receive a e-mail, which reassured me he was as ready to come home! It is amazing how much the little things become so big when he is away, but it's good to know that he is doing well! I am hoping to finsh up most of my large projects that are due for my classes this weekend so I can focus on spending time with Wayne when he returns.
I hope all is well with everyone back home!Happy Birthday Colby to be one again!

Olive Update

So I was laying in bed the other night and "Olive" got a little rambunctious and decided to venture in the empty postage box that I had stored under the bed. I thought it was cute, so I pulled the box out so she could play. Here are some photos!

July 4th

Well it has been a while, but nothing exciting has happened so why write? The truck is fixed and running great, thanks to Larry. I spend the past weekend in Sacramento just enjoying Wayne's parents company. It was hot, so we spent a lot of time just chatting and catching up on all of the events.
I have been working a lot with many hours of overtime. I have been trying to pass the time until Wayne comes home (18 days). My adventures with the school age children continue, but it is so much fun. I have enjoyed the warm weather this weekend, and spent time in the pool and soaking up some sun. I have not participated in any of the Holiday festivities, due to not wanting to roam California towns in the dark by myself. This is all OK with me, I have enjoyed the long weekend with no commitments. I worked in the garden and got some laundry done. If the birds leave my vegetables alone, I will have quite the crop! (Thanks to Mom and Dad)School is still going but mid-terms are over! So one month left of summer courses! I can't wait. I miss home more and more, especially since Mom has been dealing with some health issues, these are just the times where you wish you could be there, but phone calls with updates helped me get through. I wanted to share a few of my favorite photos from my Parents trip to California so here they are.....Mom and Dad 32 years of Marriage and still going strong...and the three of us in front of a very large Sequoia.

This week!!!

So after saying goodbye to my parents, I began my new adventure! I am currently working with school age children...yes a big change from the twos that I have had for two years. It has been interesting but fun...throughout the week we went to four different places within the Easy Bay, including the park, the pool, and roller blading. It is like letting my inner child out again! Each week we have four field trips and one day on campus, it should be a fun filled summer.
I am halfway through my summer courses, so I have one and a half semesters left until I am officially a college graduate. (I can not wait)
Wayne and his ship have started their adventure towards LA where they will be until mid July. Although he is hard to get a hold of, because he can not hold onto the phone for the life of him...MEN I tell you! I can not wait until he comes home in less than a month.
I am off to Sacramento this weekend to spend the weekend with Wayne's parents where I hope the truck can get some new parts, and to spend quality time with them. I posted new photos on facebook of my parents trip! Check them out!

The Past Week

So it's been a while since I have had a chance to sit down and update this, but I had a busy week.
My parents arrived on Thursday 6/5, and even though I was still under the weather, we greeted each other with smiles at the SFO airport. After a really long BART (BAY AREA RAPID TRANSPORTATION) ride home, we settled in for the night.
On Friday, I left them and "olive" to their own means while I went to work, they sat by the pool and enjoyed the sunshine. A nice relaxing day for the both of them. Upon returning home we made the decision to go and indulge ourselves in Sushi(my favorite of course)! It was dad's first time in a actual sushi bar and they are pretty neat to watch. Of course who can pass up the frozen yogurt shop next door! Not Us!
On Saturday we decided to head to the City for the day, which is always a adventure in itself. We enjoyed walking on Ocean beach and driving through Golden Gate Park. After this we decided to stop at Ghirardelli square and get some chocolate. It would not have been a trip to the city without walking the piers and having crepe's on Pier 39. With all of the things to see we were exhausted and ready to come home to mom's homemade pasta with fresh vegetables.
On Sunday we went to Ardenwood farms in Freemont, and got to enjoy walking through a farmhouse mansion!
Then came Monday, we decided to go and visit the Jelly Belly Factory, what a trip to see how Jelly Bellies are made and of course to get free samples along the way. From here we ventured to the Budweiser factory where again free samples came with. After filling up on Jelly Beans and Beer we decided to go the healthy route and do some Olive Oil tasting. Did you know that the grassier your olive oil is the better it is for you and you can supplement it for cholesterol medicine by drinking 1 to 2 tablespoons a day! YUCK, you will never catch me doing that!
On Tuesday, we decided to kick around town, I had to get blood drawn and go shopping! While driving to the hospital mom pipes in from the back seat and asks "is that Mount Diablo?" which sparked a trip up to the Summit of Mount Diablo. From the top you over look the whole East Bay it was beautiful!
On Wednesday we prepared and all loaded up for our Marathon trip to Calaveras big trees, home to some of the largest Sequoias in the United States. Pictures nor words can describe how amazing these were, we were all in our eliminate hiking through the trails and looking at these natural giants. From here we traveled down Highway 4, when I say down I mean it literally. For about 3 hours we traveled down the mountain side into Nevada, it was beautiful, sights that you never could imagine. After a long trip down we had to travel up for a little while to cross the Sierra Nevada's to reach Lake Tahoe. We stayed in a Casino (Harvey's) on the California and Nevada border. We all got to gamble for our first time, of course Mom was the only one to walk away with a profit. (that's OK, it was fun) After all of this we were beat, but dad and I decided just one more walk of the strip before bed.
On Thursday, we slowly got up, Dad walked to go grab mom and I breakfast and we prepared for our new day adventures. We all loaded up in the truck and began our trip around Lake Tahoe. After seeing the lake from multiple angels we decided to make our way towards Sacramento. (where Wayne's parents live) We arrived in Sacramento in time for us to Join Larry and Mindy (Wayne's parents) for dinner, and for the two sets of parents to meet. Four years with Wayne and they are just meeting but it all went well, they all seemed to enjoy each others company! It was a relief! We then headed back to the East Bay where we were greeted by Olive and our comfortable beds.
Friday we all slept in, and enjoyed a day where we did not have any plans or anywhere to go. We all worked outside to help save my desperate attempt at a garden (thanks guys), and simply hung out and enjoyed each other.
On Saturday we decided to head back to Sacramento and explore Old Town and the Capital building. It is neat to see how preserved one section of the city is, with all of it's old architecture. We then boarded the Capital Hornblower and took a boat ride down the Sacramento river.
Sunday was a bittersweet day, we all knew what this day meant and no one wanted to admit to the reality. So we all did not bring up the topic until much later in the day. It was Father's day and I got to spend it with my dad, although I had to say goodbye I would not trade the time we had together for anything else. After a emotional few hours before our truck to the airport we loaded up suitcases and made our way. Saying goodbye is no ones favorite thing to do, but we just have to continue to say see you later and to let the new countdown begin until we get together again.
Mom and Dad I enjoyed the past week, to it's fullest, not only all that we did but the simple fact that you were here and we could hug (no more cyber hugs) and just enjoy the presence of one another. I am looking forward to our next adventure whatever and where ever that may be. I love you and miss you already!
Pics to come!!!!!

"Olive" tryng to help with my homework!

It was not working out well for both of us!!!

June 7,2010

So I was able to talk to Wayne today, he made it to San Diego safley! He will remain there doing drills until the 22nd of June, they they make the trip to a port outside of LA. He seems to be doing well, liking the fact that he is underway, and can do the things he loves!
Although he is far away "olive" finds ways to get close, she pulled his sweatshirt off the footboard and curled up with it in bed. She has also discovered how to drive me crazy!!!! She is still known for the five am wake up call, and the dog like behaviors. She has picked up a new trick though, when we got her she came with a bell on her collar, which I left on knowing she was going to be a outside cat, with the hopes that she would not be able to catch anything. Well she proved me wrong, she has now managed to bring me two lizards! YUCK! But as Wayne said "what can you expect, she was going to figure it out someday!" He was right (don't tell him I said that)
It was a ok Monday, I think I just pushed through knowing that Vacation starts on the 12th and mom and dad get here in 2 days!

June 6, 2010

So while outside enjoying the pool, "Olive" decided it would be a good idea to join me in the chair! It was ok, until she started to play with my hair!
I had a good weekend, both days were relaxing, and I was able to finish some things up! Today I had a picnic for work, it was nice to see everyone outside of the work enviroment! Well I hope everyone else had a great weekend, although I hear it has been rainy and cold:(

Ok, So lets give this a try!!!

I have decided to try out this blog thing! Living in California and being so far away from family, and not having enough time in a day to communicate with them all, I thought maybe this would work! I am hoping to share information with you weekly so that you can follow my adventures here in California!

So as many of you may already know Wayne and I got a cat about two weeks ago. We named her "Olive" and she is a ball of energy but a great addition to the home. Wayne left on June 3 for about 2 months to do some drills on his newly commissioned ship the "Wasche". I did six months so hopefully two goes by fast. My parents are arriving via airplane on the 10 of June, I am excited to share some new experiences with them. I hope to post pics soon!
